4/9/2024 EnchantaVaughn Approved Behavior: Josiah has started his week off in a negative manner as he self reported feeling like a failure over the past few weeks. He reported disrespecting his mother 1x’s with moderate intensity during a 45 second incident early this morning before breakfast. Behavior: Josiah reported he sometimes get down on himself and then depression sets in. He reported he now think that is where the thoughts and acts of defiance and disrespect was coming from when he yelled at parent 1x’s with moderate intensity during the 45 second incident. He reported this has been a bad start to his week between he and parent. Intervention: QMHP-C probed Josiah to find the cause of him requesting today’s individual session with QMHP-C. QMHP-C also implemented a psycho-educational activity into today’s session that focused on Josiah learning to control his anger. QMHP-C verbalized to Josiah that today’s session was also to help Josiah explore the root of his anger, frustrations and lack of motivation prior to being depressed. QMHP-C then taught Josiah breathing techniques to help with calming himself when angered by others at home and community. Intervention: QMHP-C used empathetic listening skills as Josiah expressed himself openly to QMHP-C. QMHP-C then probed Josiah about his reaction to rules and respecting authority figures at all times. QMHP-C then processed with Josiah the “Listen Then Respond” technique and encouraged him to practice it in times of need as well as use other tactics that were modeled and taught during previous sessions. Response: Josiah seemed receptive to today’s individual counseling session in which he verbalized understanding of session. Josiah reported his mood was not positive because school is close to starting again in another month and that seems to get him depressed because he hates school and he doesn’t know what to do with himself for the remainder of the summer break. He then stated that his expectations at home are very high and he feels overwhelmed at times. Josiah vowed to practice the breathing technique and utilizes self-control techniques taught by QMHP-C today to help calm him when angered by parent. Response: Josiah responded positively to the psycho-educational activity that focused on Josiah learning to control his angry and aggressive feelings. Josiah then processed the “Listen Then Response” technique and responded positively to being encouraged to practice it in times of need. He reported he will work on overcoming depression.
